Cricket

Hello! My name is Cricket, and I am the most adorable (Falcor lookalike), smart, and playful dog around! I also have the cutest underbite ever 😍!

We were contacted by PBAA about a dog animal control picked up. She would have been euthanized but the awesome ladies at PBAA grabbed her and got her to their Vet quick. Their Vet did a spine Xray and determined she was paralyzed and with no fosters they were faced with a tough decision. Kelsey reached out to us and without hesitation we said yes we would help. Crystal and her husband met up with Justin to pick up Cricket. She rested at The Yamac House for the night before heading to our Vet today. Sadly there is a lot going on with Cricket 😢. Cricket Beginning at T1-2 the thoracic disc spaces are all wedged through T1 to T11. L4 is severely misshapen and the canal portion of the vertebral body is incompletely fractured. She has decreased serosal detail throughout abdomen. Moth eaten appearance to carpal bones/metacarpals/ distal radius left front with prior fracture of Left radius/ulna which exhibits a bony callus. Right eye has cherry eye with moderate mucous discharge. She is painful on upward and side to side flexion. Front limbs stuck in extension, while hind limbs exhibit paralysis. Spine is stuck in arched position, not able to extend or move. Our Vets said this is the worst paralyzed case we brought them so far. They question if any discomfort can be controlled with pain management. They know we dont give up and are always willing to try, so they gave us a medication regiment for 1 week to assess if it works and how her quality of life will be. We don’t know if we don’t try, and Crystal will give it all she got to help her 24/7. Right now it’s try, wait and see. One thing is for sure, she will know love and will know she has people fighting for her! If anyone would like to help with her care, we would GREATLY appreciate it! Personality: Cricket would kiss you 24/7 if you let her. She is a very happy girl who absolutely loves to play. Now that she has the ability to use all 4 limbs, she loves to run! If she takes her time walking/running, then her legs will move independently from one another as a normal dog. However if she is excited and really moving, her hind legs will move together like a bunny hop 🥰. Overall she is a very fun, loving girl who just wants to explore, play and of course snuggle! Favorite Activities 🩷 Cuddling 🩷 Chasing toys 🩷 Playing with both humans and dogs 🩷 Running Medical Cricket is considered a medical case. The exact medical conditions are: Beginning at T1-2 the thoracic disc spaces are all wedged through T1 to T11. While I understand that reading her medical chart might be a bit scary, please know she has so much life left in her! When she came here, she couldn’t use all 4 limbs. In a week she learned how to move her front legs. In 10 days she used all 4 legs, and in 14 days she was running! This little girl is determined to live life to the fullest. She doesn’t let any of her medical issues define her or keep her down. Cricket deserves an AMAZING home full of love, adventures and lots of kisses!!
