Pepper Pots

Hiding in a filthy, abandoned store on a dirt road in West Texas, Pepper Pots was terrified from, what we can only assume, was severe trauma caused to her hind legs. Dragging her lower half about, scavenging for any morsel of food and water she could hope to find, it didn’t take long for her to be spotted.

Little Ms. Pots was found but the local county animal control. Due to being paralyzed, she had found herself where almost every paralyzed and homeless dogs in Texas find themselves— on the top of the euthanasia list. With a heavy heart and paralyzed from fear, Pepper lay on the cold ground and awaiting her unfair fate. Luckily, we heard of the existence of a sweet little paralyzed girl and quickly got her to The Yamac House. Her demeanor changed almost immediately from sad and heartbroken, to hopeful and playful.

As always, the amazing Dr. Robinson took on her case. Her Xrays showed she has Stiffle Effusion, cervical disc space narrowing, hip osteoarthritis, small intestinal foreign matetial (eating rocks 😔) and narrowing of her thoracolumar disc. When they listened to her heart, they heard a murmur. So they took her back to do additional Xrays of her heart, which is a normal size. They said her paralysis is most likely caused by hard trauma to her lower end.

Pepper receives 24/7 care at The Yamac House and like many others there, Crystal expresses her bladder a few times a day. She is a spunky little girl who loves to play, but also loves to be a boss lol.

Like the others at The Yamac House, being sanctuary dogs means monthly care costs. Thankfully Cuddly has a campaign that anyone can donate to help us care for Pepper!
