Umut is our very first paralyzed pup. She was born in the landfill, and at just a few months old, she was crushed. Her spine broken, her ribs broken and paralyzed. We pulled her out of there and her clinic journeys began.

Do to the nature of her injuries, Umut was in and out of many, many clinics. She would viciously attack her paralyzed limbs. She was living her life in a cone in Turkey. At a year old, we made the decision to fly her to The Yamac House.

At that time, Crystal had no idea how to care for a paralyzed dog but was willing to learn. Umut was still attacking herself on and off. Her nerves would randomly reconnect and shoot pain into her paralyzed limbs.

Crystal was determined to figure out how to help her. Medications were tried and helped for awhile, but eventually she would snap again. We made the decision to take her back legs after consulting with a few Vets.

Since then, Umut is a new dog! She is happy, she is more mobile and is enjoying her life and friends! She still requires monthly meds, bladder expression throughout the day and daily baths. She is not an easy dog by far, BUT she is worth everything to us. Umut is cared for and loved beyond measure at The Yamac House.
