We rescued Apollo after he was dumped in the landfill in Odessa TX. Apollo was so close to death, emaciated, suffering from hypothermia and unable to move. After a week in the hospital, Apollo was discharged to The Yamac House. Crystal worked with him 24/7, from lifting his head to feed him, to carrying him outside for fresh air and sun….all the way to teaching him how to walk again. It took a year to get him stable. He was responding well to treatment for his Coccidioidomycosis and started playing for the first time. Sadly it was short lived and Apollo started limping and knuckling over again. Xrays confirmed Crystal’s biggest fear…the Coccidioidomycosis had eaten away more of his vertebras in his neck and damaged nerves. Apollo was recently put on hospice care but he has shown us that he won’t give up. Crystal is doing pain management with him, and daily exercises of his motor skills. They are both determined to keep fighting and to make the most out of whatever life he has left
