Betty

I truly wish I could find the words to express how I feel right now. Each feeding I receive images and videos of all the dogs. I watch in tears, and a good portion of the time, I bawl my eyes out. I get so sad, so angry, so defeated all in the same moment! How can this be the world we live in??? How can a life, human or animal, be tossed out with yesterday’s trash! What kind of world is this??? This happens in every country across this world. Most turn a blind eye to it, but I want every single person in this world to LOOK! No life should ever be treated like this! This baby was pulled and rushed to the clinic. We will need help with the Vet bills. Please, please spate $1 to help!!!! Be the human being that doesn’t look away and stands and fights for them!!!

Betty update 9/11/23

Today Betty had her MRI under sedation. The MRI showed us that Betty has L2 and L3 disc slips and spondylitis on top of the perianal hernia and pelvic fractures. For those not familiar with Spondylitis, it is a chronic disease that affects the development of the dogs spine. This occurs in older dogs, and dogs who have had injuries take place. While there is no cure for it, there is medications that can be used to help with any pain or discomfort from it. In Betty’s case, it could have occurred from both of the reasons above. We know she suffered trauma but what we have finally learned is Betty’s age estimate. This sweet lady is around 10 years old! She is also not spayed and her teeth are almost all broken. The Vets feel she has at least 2 or 3 operations ahead of her, from most important to least. Betty is now 56lbs, her skin is so much better and she is finally starting to regrow nice, new, healthy hair. She did well under the anesthesia and is currently waking up.

Betty’s care, she requires Hydrotherapy as well as Cold Laser Treatments. This is to assist with her fractured pelvis as well as the spondylitis. Her heart condition requires daily medication, and echocardiograms every 6 months as per the Vet. While I would absolutely love to say that it is 100% sure that she will fly, we cannot at this point. It all depends on her heart, if it could withstand the flight. As well if the Vet approved that she can be safely crated for the 13 hour flight. A lot of things are still up in the air as it’s still early on in her treatment.

*****I realize some will read this post and suggest letting her go. One that is not possible in Turkey and two, she wants to live! So while we respectfully appreciate every opinion, please know that is not an option. We will continue to do whatever the Vets recommend and ensure that she is 100% comfortable! ******

As always, we truly appreciate all your prayers, love, support and shares for Betty and all the other RWB dogs.
