Georgia

7/2023

For 7 hours this old gal laid in a parking lot right off of Kermit highway in Odessa TX. Old, overweight, barley any hair and unable to move.

My husband and I met a group of amazing people and loaded her up in our truck to head for The Yamac House. Once we arrived here it was pretty challenging getting her out of the truck and in, but we figured it out. We gave her a nice warm oatmeal bath, picked out embedded stickers from her poor feet, and got her snuggled in.

She barely has any hair, her skin is a mess, she is massively overweight, her one eye definitely needs to be checked out….but she is an absolute love!

We cannot even fathom what she must have thought. We don’t know her story before, but we will know her story from tonight on. Everyone, welcome Ms. Georgia to RWB!

We will need to get her into our Vet for a full work up and get her issues addressed. If you want to help Ms. Thelma, you can donate to:

Georgia weighed in at 127lbs and with her body frame she should weigh 70lbs at the max. A thyroid panel has been sent out and we should have results next week. Her joints have pretty bad arthritis so they have started her on Galliprant. Her one kidney value (SDMA) was high, showing an early marker for kidney disease. Her one liver value was high, and she also had high cholesterol. Dr. Robinson said her heart sounds good though. Georgia’s 4dx was negative and they went ahead and vaccinated her and gave her a proheart injection. Her ears are severely infected, so they flushed and treated them. She also has antibiotic ointment for her eye. The lumps on her body are cysts due to her hair follicles. They were drained. The kennel techs at the clinic also gave her another medicated bath today. This is something we will have to do every few days until her skin improves. Georgia was as sweet as can be to everyone at the clinic and they all adored her.
