Raine

We were tagged for help in a local dog group in Odessa TX. An owner posted needing rescue for a 3 week old puppy. The owner stated that the puppy could not use its back legs at all, and another puppy was born with a deformed skull causing it to pass away. She did not want this one to pass away and reached out for help. So we drove to her location and took the puppy into our rescue. While there, we asked questions to see if the pup could have been injured at all, vs. being born paralyzed. The owner didnt think any injuries occured to the pup. But what we do know is that at 2 days old, the owners had the tails docked. This is something that potentially can cause paralysis but the Vet will need to determine that.At just 3 weeks old, this little girl has to fight for her life. She will need to be bottle fed, needs to get Xrays and seen by the Vet to determine whats causing her paralysis and will need to have her tiny bladder and bowels expressed. Right now we need to get her seen and get much needed supplies here to care for her around the clock. We truly appreciate any help to give Raine a fighting chance at life!!! Little Raine had her Vet appointment. She had Xrays and her first round of shots. When they did the Xrays, it took 3 Vets to look at the results and they were shocked! Little Raine was born without a lot of her vertebras in her spine, and also missing bones from her sternum. This has caused her paralysis as well as her heart to hang way lower than it should. She also had a fecal done and is on proper de-wormer from parasites that she got from her mom. She will need a lot of ongoing medical care and monthly Xrays to watch for changes to her spine and heart. Despite it all, Raine is such a happy girl! She loves to play, has teeth now and we are transitioning from formula to wet food. They don’t make a small enough wheelchair for her, so my husband and I built her one out of bars, and Legos! We also stitched a custom harness for her. As she grows, she will definitely need a set of wheels. We truly appreciate all your love and support for Raine! This little girl will need life long care and we are so blessed for all your help!

Once we have more information and Raine is healthy we can make a decision on if she can be adopted out to the right home or will this very lucky girl get to live her life out with Crystal and all the other babies at Yamac House.
